I would urge all of us to read the Bible; all of the New Testament especially. We dare not pick out a verse here and there and leave out other plain scripture. All scripture is for our benefit. We live by every word of God.
I see a thing happening in the church of today that is very disturbing to say the least. Many are getting away from what the word of God says and believing what their denomination teaches. Some go to churches that teach what they want to hear. Many attend churches that never teach against sin never tell you to repent and get sin out of your life.
Because of this the church is full of folk that will tell a lie any time they choose. From the pulpit to the lay membership folk are committing adultery and fornication. Some are getting drunk Saturday and teaching the Bible on Sunday. I could go on and on but I believe you get the picture. I know what I am speaking of because I have seen it happen again and again. I believe you have also.
In a lot of churches if a person walks down the isle and makes a profession of faith they are patted on the back and told they are forever saved and will go to heaven no matter what they may do later. At funerals I have heard the preacher say I know this one is in heaven because I remember when they came forward and shook my hand. Most every one in the congregation knew this one was a heavy drinker and run around on their mate all the time. The Bible says this will not go to heaven. No wonder folk are so confused today. I urge all to read the Bible for your self very, very prayerfully. Which are we going to believe church doctrine or the Bible?
I do not take these things lightly. I will stand before God one day and give account for what I have taught to his children. I tremble at the thought of this. At first I refused to teach but later I realized I had to, that was my calling. I have fasted and prayed for days and days to know what God wanted. I want to know Him not just know about Him. I asked Him why I could ask 10 folks what the Bible says and get 10 different answers. This went on for days of prayer. Finally He said, "Some have never met the author of the book."
Several years ago after days of fasting and praying God said to me "I will return soon and many of my children will be left behind because they are not ready." (Read about the five wise and the five foolish virgins). I wept and wept and asked God why would He tell me that when I was home by myself and not say it in a church meeting where all could hear? He said "That, that you hear in the ear shout it from the house tops."
From that day till now my teaching has been different. I desire to feed the body of Christ (the church), all the word of God. Tell all that will listen: get down to business with God. Quit playing church. Quit listening to those who pat you on the back and tell you, you have all there is. That is what happened to the Laodiceans they thought that they had all they needed and became lukewarm. This made our Lord sick of them. God has more for us than any of us have seen. Seek Him with your whole heart and you will find Him ready to talk with you and sup with you.
My natural father was a carpenter and my Lord was a carpenter. I have been around the building business all my life. When a building goes up and it is ready to be occupied there is always a punch list of things to do that will make the building acceptable to the owner. It must be according to the blue print or it will not be accepted. My Brothers and Sisters it is punch list time for the church! We are the temple of the Holy Spirit.
Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock, and if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Some say, and teach, these were not born again. Jesus said they were part of the church and were in His mouth. Are you going to believe church doctrine or Jesus? In this verse He is speaking of fellowship. Sup - means the chief meal of the day! Jesus is saying I want to eat with you, break bread and fellowship with you. I want you to get to know me not just know about Me!
That is the only way to get to know anyone is to fellowship with them. Are we eating the chief meal of the day with Jesus? When you eat with some one there is conversation going on as well! Jesus said you will know My voice. The choice is ours He is at the door knocking. We must open the door.
