Quote
Jesus did not
say, “Come to me and get it over with.” He said, “If any man would come
after me, let him take up his cross daily and follow me.” Daily is the
key word. Our commitment to Christ, however genuine and wholehearted it
may be today, must be renewed tomorrow . . . and the day after that . .
. and the day after that . . . until the path comes at last to the
river. LOUIS CASSELS (1922–1974)
Today's Verses - KJV Acts 15:6-9 And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter (circumcision).
And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto
them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made
choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of
the gospel, and believe. And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare
them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;
And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by
faith.
My Comments
Why do some
want to bring traditions into the walk with Christ? Does our Lord now
desire a circumcision of the heart instead of flesh? Can only He do
that? Did Christ do away with all the works of the law by fulfilling
them Himself? Was the law just a schoolmaster to bring us to Christ? In
Christ do we have liberty to keep on sinning?
PrayerChrist did away with all the ceremonial days, animal sacrifices and works that was designed to move sin from them. In those days sin was only rolled forward and had to be dealt with again and again. The blood of animals could never do away with sin. Now we are under a different covenant, thank God, the blood of the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, has cleansed us of all sin. We don't need to deal with sins that are past; over and over again! We have now been made, by God, the righteousness of God, in Jesus Christ. Does that give us a liberty to continue in sin? Hear the Word of the Lord - Rom 6:1-2 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Certainly not! How can we live in something we are dead to? Now that we are made new in Christ what are we to do? Hear the Word of the Lord - Rom 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. We are to present our bodies to Him and become a living sacrifice unto Him. This requires us to lay aside every weight and sin in our life. Stop living like the world and live like Christ! We are to pray and study the Word of God so we learn to think as He says, forgetting those things that are past! By prayer and Bible study we learn what is acceptable and perfect in God's sight! Meditate on it! Father God, help us to get our act
together and be Christ-like in all we do. Help us to lay aside
everything
that is not of You and walk in true holiness and purity in Christ.
Thank You for what You have done in our life. Give us grace and
understanding to walk in the fullness of Your completed work. We ask
In faith believing we receive so we give thanks in the the Holy name of Jesus Christ. Amen. Jesus Christ
is Lord
