When I was growing up, as most children, I had my favorite foods. Mine was apple pie and potatoes fixed any way. If a meal didn't include one of those I wasn't happy. I also loved ice cream. The kind made in a hand turned machine. If it had been left up to me I would have filled up on ice cream and apple pie! My family insisted I eat the vegetables and meat first, then the desert.
Most of the children of today, that I know, eat some kind of fast food. They will pick over their food and say “I don't like this” or “I am not hungry” or “my stomach hurts,” etc. When it comes time for desert, a miracle happens, everything returns to normal and they are ready to eat!
In most families the children will eat only the “good” tasting food. They couldn't care less if it's good for them or not. The taste is all that matters to them. This is normal for children. It's up to the parents to see that a child gets a balanced diet so they will grow up with strong bones and teeth. Their future health depends largely on what they eat when they are growing up.
Matthew 4:4 But He
answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but
by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Ephesians 5:5 For
this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man,
who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of
God.
Ephesians 5:6 Let
no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh
the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
Please notice we live by every Word of God not just by what we like! Also to not walk in known truth will bring the wrath of God on us. When we realize we have sinned we must repent and turn to the truth with our whole heart.
Many in the church of this generation are like children. They only want to hear about the blessing of God. They want to hear God loves them and will bless them no matter what they do. Many want to hear that God will not let any miss heaven. Some even refuse to believe there is a place called hell. (A lake of fire into which many will be cast; to be tormented forever.)
These don't want to hear that sin will cause death. They would rather hear that when they joined the church all their sins, past present and future were forgiven. They won't believe plain scripture that warns us to depart from sin. Jesus said at the end of the “Sermon on the Mount” that only the doers of His word would stand in the storms of life.
These don't want to hear that all liars will have their part in the lake of fire. (Rev. 21:8)
Just like in the natural, the very food a child don't like is the food that will build strong bodies, bones and teeth. In the spiritual sense the very words that some don't want to hear is the very word that will get them through the storms of life that come to us all.
We dare not leave out any of the Word of God. We need all of it to sustain our life. God can do very little for us on permanent basis if we don't become doers of all His word.
His word is what gives us life and is what keeps us alive. His Word is all our armour and the only weapon we have.
2 Timothy 2:24 – 26 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle to all men, apt to teach, patient, in meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; and that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
Every teacher and preacher must give those they minister to all the word of God. The “does” and the “don'ts”. Those ministered to must be given what will happen if they do or don't. How can anyone know what decision to make if they don't know all the options?
If we get into error and refuse to repent the devil can take us at his will. (Any time he so desires.) Only the truth will deliver us and keep us delivered.
