Galatians Chapter 6

Chapter six is basically two parts.  The first part contains simple and realistic instructions for the Believer and their duty to one another.  It's also to help instruct the Believer to love one another.  In the second part of the chapter Paul reiterates the warnings he gave against the false teachers and their true character.  One needs also to look at the tenderness that Paul uses in his reprimand and how he stays on task examining him self also before he examines others; a solid reflection of the Christ he preached.

Paul begins in verses one to five by saying we should be cautious to not let the ways of the world snag us and that we should take concern to share with one another so we can ease the load of each other's burdens. He also teaches them to be tender and affectionate towards any one that might have fallen into temptation or sin no matter of the reason for their fall. As Believers we should strive towards sharing one another's burdens with love and compassion.  Paul also says we should use caution to not become haughty of our own doings.  Thinking humbly of our self and our desires giving way to others first.  When we help some one we should do it without concern of others knowing we have helped.  We should only be concerned with knowing something needs to be done and what can we do to help.  Each one of us as Believers must bear our own cross we cannot give it to another to carry but others can come alongside and help bear our burdens with us.

In verse six we are told to not keep the Word of God to ourselves.  It is something we should be desirous to share with others.  We should be exuberant about sharing the Gospel of Christ.  We should also be willing to lovingly support those who instruct us in the Gospel.  Verse seven says do not think you can hide from God either.  Whatever it is that you sow that you will reap.  God sees all and answers all respectively.  Paul goes on to say that if we are patient we will be rewarded for that which we do and it will be through God that our reward will come and in verse 10 we are told to be especially concerned for the Believers.   It's good to sow good seed to all people but it is especially good to sow well unto the body of Believers.

Verse 11 is speculated by some to mean that Paul's thorn in the flesh were his eyes and he wrote with very large letters, others look at it to mean look at the importance of what I write unto you because of the length of his epistle to the Galatians.  I tend to think this refers to the importance of what he writes requires discourse at great length.  Paul says in verses 12 and 13 that things of the law will not bring salvation to you and to be cautious because many look for trophies and we do not want to become another person's trophy!  The only way to avoid the pitfalls of the world Paul says in verse 14 is to continually go before God for help in those areas of our life because as Paul continues in verse 15 to say it is only our becoming a new creation in Christ that truly matters and it is only through our calling out to God for help that we can become new creations.  Verses 16 to 18 tell us of the suffering Paul suffered for Jesus. Paul says he bears the scars of this suffering on his body and in his mind.  Paul withstood great physical and mental anguish for Christ and he says here that it is all worth it and hopes that all he speaks to will see the need to share his same passion for Christ.  He closes wishing them the mercy and grace of God upon them.

Father, thank you for loving us so much that you gave teaching unto us of how we are to spread Your Word and how we also are to treat one another.  Help me Lord to always be willing to accept any suffering that comes my way for the sake of Christ Your dearly beloved son, I truly believe that we will reap exactly what we sow, help me to always sow love in Jesus name amen.
