1 Cor 10:10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
Israel was in captivity to Egypt. They were slaves and life was hard. They complained and God got them out in a super natural way. He opened the red sea and Israel passed over on dry land. The Egyptian army was drowned trying to do the same. After the Lord got them out they continued to complain. God was in control when they were in Egypt and after they came out. He allowed them to be in captivity for their transgressions. When will we realize God is in control, not satan.
Beloved, before being born-again, we were in captivity, slaves, because of our own sin. This is why Jesus came in the flesh. He has redeemed us and brought us out of sin. It's time to quit griping and, with all diligence, find out what our Lord desires of us.
The Lord was leading Israel, in the wilderness, toward the land He had promised them. The way was not easy. Most were traveling on foot and they ran out of water and food. There were enemies to fight. God supplied their every need; but they began to murmur and complain against their leader, Moses. Israel would be happy for a few days and then go back to complaining. God took it personally because He was directing Moses. Because of their complaining many were destroyed! Beloved, God can do very little, to help us, if we don't learn to trust Him.
In every Christian walk we go through a “wilderness” time before getting into the promises of God. As with Israel, so with us. We need to get the “Egypt”, (a type of the world), out of us. In the wilderness God is proving us to see if we will trust and obey Him. If we are in Christ the old way won't work anymore. We need to get it out of our life and learn to trust God in all things. We cannot fight and win spiritual battles in our old natural ability. We will never get out of our “wilderness” by griping and complaining! God puts one up and another down.
How can we get the world out of us? First we must repent and ask the Lord to come and live in us. Then we are to let Him be Lord of our life. To do this study the word of God and pray for His ability to become a “doer” of all His word. He whom the Son sets free is free indeed. Walking in truth will keep us free!
As we encounter the storms of life,
as we all do, what should we do? Assuming we have become a doer of the word
of God, by the strength of Christ within us, when the storm hits tell it how
big the God we serve is. Trust in God and He will bring you through the
storm. We have His word on it. Don't expect it to work out like you want
it to, just trust Him in all things.
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Our youngest daughter (age 16 at the time) died from an auto accident in 1970. Last year my mother and my wife's brother died. We had asked the Lord that they be healed and stay with us. The Lord saw fit to heal them and take them home to be with Him. It didn't work the way we desired. Should we get angry with God? Certainly not they belonged to Him. "When my eyes are closed in death with my Jesus I'll be at rest." We choose to just trust Him for He does all things well! Does that mean we understand it? Many times we don't, but we still choose to trust and obey. Jesus Christ is Lord.
Psa 50:6 Let every
thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.
Psa 34:1 I will
bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
Psa 22:3 But
thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.
How can we show, by our actions, we are trusting God? When the storm is raging and out of our control began to praise God. He dwells in praise. Are we still breathing? If praise is continually in our mouth how can we be griping and complaining? As we praise He is on the scene for our good. He will be the Master of the storm, if we let Him.
Hab 3:17-19 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places.
Nothing was working out right for the man of God. Everything he was doing failed. Dear reader, you may be going through such a time as this. Here is the way to victory. Began to rejoice in the Lord, joy in the God of your salvation. In the natural this makes no sense at all but beloved this is the way to victory in the spiritual realm. Rejoice in Jesus Christ. In Him we live and move and have our very being. He is the lifter of our head. No weapon formed against us shall prosper.
