We all go through times when it seems no one knows how we feel. When we seem to be alone and nothing goes the way we want it to. This happens to Christians as well as those who don't know the Lord. Those who don't know the Lord turn to drugs, strong drink or something to get past their feelings. This doesn't solve the problem, just adds to it. What is done during these acts, just compound the problem. It becomes a circle with no end. It can reach a place, where only the Lord can break that circle.
Sometimes Christians, young and old, get caught up in feeling so alone with no one to care. As we grow older and lose loved ones or close friends we feel more and more alone. In the midst of crowds we can feel alone because we don't hear well, can't see good or don't feel well. We feel we don't know anyone and that no one really cares about us.
We all feel this way at times but is this the way a Christian should stay? Certainly not. What is the answer? It boils down to getting our mind off ourselves and on someone we can help or help us. Let’s look at some scriptures.
Psa 69:20-21 Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none. They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.
Even the man Jesus felt deserted as He was going to, and on the cross. All had deserted Him and even denied they knew Him. Some went to sleep, while He was praying in great agony. He felt totally alone and looked for someone to have pity on Him but found none. Why am I saying this? Because, beloved, we have a friend in Jesus. We can go to Him and know that he has been there and knows how to comfort us in our time of loneliness or heartbreak. I don't think any of us will face the rejection and humiliation Jesus faced.
Isa 50:6-7 I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting. For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.
In time of loneliness and heartbreak Jesus determined to do the Father’s will. He knew His Father was for Him and nothing would change that. We through prayer, obedience and trust can do the same. He is with us always! We too, will not be ashamed. If He be for us who can be against us? Rejoice, great is the Lord and greatly to be praised. "I am never alone; never alone." He is a friend that is closer than a brother. He is an ever-present help in time of need. The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want!
Father God, some who are reading this are lonely and heartbroken. I ask You to comfort them as only You can. Help them to see and know You care and are always with them. If some don't know You as Saviour and Lord; I ask you to manifest Yourself to them for salvation and deliverance. I ask in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
