Eph 5:19-20 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
There is a thing that is happening all over most of the world in this generation. Marriages, between a man and a woman, are breaking up at a tremendous rate. Most of the time the complaint is “I am not getting my needs met in this marriage.” Because of this many are just living together to see if they are compatible. This is totally against God’s will. He will never bless this kind of relationship. These who do this will not inherit the kingdom of God unless they repent and do it God’s way. Get married or stop living together!
Marriage is a two way street and is in real trouble if changed to a one way street. Both must make some changes to make it work. If the emphasis gets on, he or she is not pleasing me it becomes one way. We must learn to submit to one another. The wife should try to please the husband. The husband should try to please the wife. We all were created to serve not be served. When will we grow up and learn this? True love will cause us to try to please the one we love. Doing this we get our needs met and God will bless the union.
Do you realize this is also happening in the church? Many who come to the Lord soon turn away and go back to what they were before. Most of the time these were expecting something they didn't get. Sometimes it’s expecting God to give them what they wanted. The emphases was on self and not on serving God. The relationship became a one way street. Like in marriage, God desires a giving and taking relationship with us. We are to ask to receive so we can give; not horde it on our own selfish desires. We are to present our bodies to Him a living sacrifice.
When we grow up everything in us desires to bless the Lord with every thing we are! We get our needs met as we serve Him with our whole being. Our relationship with the Lord is called a marriage. When we use that relationship as a guide for our marriage with our mate it will grow into something beautiful. My wife and I have been married for fifty-five years and we are so thankful that God has blessed our union. We tried it our way for the first few years and it didn't work. His way always works but it takes both. One can not do it by their self.
God will not save us without our cooperation. It takes two to make a marriage work in the spiritual and in the natural.
