1 Peter 2:1 – 3. Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby; if so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

Please notice the above must be dealt with in our lives before any real Christian growth can take place. Also it says all not some or do the best you can! This is for those who are new in Christ. We can lay them aside because Christ has delivered us from these. This is not for salvation but rather in response to salvation.  It can be done because Christ in us gives us the ability to do so.  After we lay these things aside then we can began to grow, if we get the sincere milk of the word.  Also notice the desire for milk must come from within us.

Sad to say many in the church of today have not had the water or milk of the word taught or preached to them. Some have just had a pacifier put in their mouth!  A pacifier gives no food of any kind. Just makes you think you are eating! They are told they got all there is when they joined the church, nothing else to do. These are given a job to do to keep them busy. Most of these are no more grown up, as a Christian, now than they were when they first were born again.

Folk are not ready for meat till they get off milk. Being born-again is not the end but rather the beginning of our walk with God.

We all know this in the natural, why is it so hard to understand in the spiritual? Some have been in the church for five – ten - twenty years or more and are no more grown up spiritually than they were when they first got saved, probably not as much. This should not be. If this happened in the natural we would know this one had a learning problem.

1 Peter 3:10 – 12 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace and ensue it. For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and His ears are open unto their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

This is why The Holy Spirit says lay aside the above things. God wants us to have good days and enjoy life.  Every thing God tells us to do is for our benefit. Let us learn to trust and obey.

If we love life and desire good days we must get our tongue under control of the Holy Spirit. Find out what God desires for us and become a doer of that. This will cause His eyes to be upon us and cause His ears to be open to our prayers. If we do not, His face will be against us and not for us.

Let us get rid of the pacifier and get on the sincere milk of the word and grow up!
