The Light Rules
Gen 1:16-18 And God made two great
lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule
the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of
the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and
over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw
that it was good.
Gen
1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and
multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion
over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every
living thing that moveth upon the earth.
Mat 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
God created the
heavens and the earth and all that is in them. He created the greater
light, the sun, to rule the day and the lesser light, the moon, to rule
the night. Without the sun this earth could not exist with life on it.
Every day, without exception, the sun shines. No matter what is
happening on the earth, the sun does its duty. It rules. The sun has no
will of its own so it always obeys the command of the Lord.
God gave man
dominion (rule, authority) over every thing he created. He had
God-given authority to be fruitful and multiply, to subdue (overcome,
rule)
the earth and rule over all that moved on land, in the air and in the
sea. Adam was in the image and likeness of God. He was the Son of God.
He was created to rule.
The serpent was
one of those things that moved. Instead of ruling over the serpent Adam
and Eve let him lead them astray from what God commanded them. You know
what happened. Adam, and Eve with him, was put out of the Garden of
Eden so they could not get to the tree of life and live. Now instead of
God ruling through them, sin ruled in their life. Death now ruled. Man
has a will.
The question is how do we use it? Are we going to be
obedient or disobedient? Every decision we make has consequences; good
or bad. The consequences concern not just us but many others as well.
Adam's and Eve's decision concerned all born after them!
God sent His only
begotten Son, Jesus Christ, into the world in the flesh of a man. He
became an offering for the sin of every person and shed His blood so
everyone who would believe in Him could once again have life reigning
in his or her life. Jesus Christ and Him alone is the source of life.
Without Him all the future anyone has is eternity in the fires of hell.
What is your decision concerning Him? Remember decisions have eternal
consequences.
Now we, who have
received Christ, are the light of the world. As in the beginning light
has authority to rule in life. Darkness has no authority to rule; only
light has that authority. Jesus Christ is that light and if you have
received Him He is in you. Beloved, let God arise and all your enemies
will be scattered. Recognize the God-given authority you have to rule
and use the most powerful name there is, Jesus Christ, against the
darkness that comes against you.
Father
God, help us to be what You have created us to be in Jesus Christ. May
we live and bear fruit that we are abiding in the life that is in Jesus
Christ. Help us to let that light rule in our lives. Help us to use
Your Word as a weapon against evil and not against one another. We ask
and believe we receive in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
