Ever Changing
Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

My wife, Datha, is one who doesn’t like change. If we go a certain way to a place, the next time we go she expects to go exactly the same way. If there is a detour and we must change she dislikes that very much. I can usually expect her to be the same, every day. We have been married for fifty-four years now. Praise the Lord!

Many times when we go on a trip it’s impossible to go the same way we went the last time we took the same trip. (We love to travel.) The roads have been changed, moved, done away with or the route moved, especially in large cities. We must constantly search the map. We also need a new map each time. It’s hard to relax and enjoy the trip during these areas.

Churches, denominations, religions, and cults that are not founded on the Bible, The Word of God, are constantly changing. You must have one of their latest books to know what has changed or listen to their latest message. These change from generation to generation. Sometimes within a generation someone gets a new, so-called, revelation and the rules change.

Our Lord is one who never changes. What He said several thousand years ago He is still saying the same today. Thank God it’s like that. I don’t need to worry about some “new doctrine” coming along that I don’t know. All I need to do is find out what He said, recorded in scripture, and know that He is still the same. I like that! Beloved, that is security!

I most surely believe that we should all be growing in the knowledge and understanding of God’s will for us. If the new knowledge doesn’t line up with the Bible, I don’t want it! “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” Psalms 119:105. Don’t believe everything you hear about God until you check it out for yourself in the Bible. (Most certainly do that for my teachings.) Two or three plain scriptures on the same subject should prove every teaching and doctrine. If another scripture contradicts the teaching something is being taken out of context. The Bible does not contradict itself, contrary to what some say.

We should all recheck everything we believe and see if it is in line with the Bible. The way is straight and the gate narrow, let us be sure we are traveling on that path. It will lead to everlasting life with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This age will soon be over.

Are you well acquainted with the One who is the same yesterday, today and forever? Do you know Him as Savior and Lord?
