Rom 8:31-39 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Many, in the church, are not fighting the "good fight" of faith. It’s plain, from scripture, that God’s people will face trials, storms of life, persecution, distress, tribulation, perils, etc. Some, because of what they have been taught, think if they become a Christian nothing bad will happen to them. Beloved, God is in control of our life but the word of God tells us things will happen that we won't like! The question is, what will we do about it?
We are not to let these things defeat us or overcome us. Faith in God will overcome. As He says, "We are more than conquers". Let's walk in victory already won by our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ!
Jesus, when tempted of the devil, had to hear what the devil said to Him. Jesus compared what satan said to scripture and gave His answer. “It is written”. The Holy Ghost, in us, will help us as it did Jesus. For this to work we must be in Christ, know the word, and be filled with the same Spirit. Jesus said this after being baptized and the Spirit came upon Him in the form of a dove.
The Spirit drove Jesus into the wilderness to be tested. He fasted forty days and nights. Then the devil came to Him. We will all face our wilderness time. How long we stay there depends on what we say and do. Are we going to murmur and complain or do as Jesus, say “It is written”? After Jesus overcome He returned in the power of the Spirit. Before we can be of much help to others we must first overcome satan in our life.
Isa 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD. 2 Cor 10:3-4 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
The choice is ours. When the devil speaks to us are we going to believe him or God? Our words and actions will show what we believe. Our weapons are not carnal but mighty. Our weapon is the Word of God in the mouth of a born-again believer. The scripture says, "No weapon formed against us will prosper". Satan comes with words that are lies. God’s weapon is truth and will give victory. Truth prevails over a lie, as light over darkness.
If we believe the lie and act on it; we loose. If we believe the truth and act on it; we win. Our choice. Let’s choose to believe God and show it by our words and actions.
Let's learn to discern what is of God and what is not. (By Bible study and prayer.) If someone, or some voice in our mind, is saying something contrary to God’s word, that is satan. Remember when Peter said to Jesus words contrary to the word of God? Jesus said to Peter, “Get thee behind me satan”. (Mark 8:33) Peter, not knowing the scripture concerning Jesus, spoke words satan gave him.
God never contradicts His Word. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are in perfect agreement. When we face words, no matter who they come through, that are contrary to God’s word; it’s time to get our weapon in our mind and mouth and say what God says about it. God’s word says this and I believe it. I agree with God and His word says I am victorious. I am more than an overcomer because of Jesus Christ and His finished work.
You ask, “is it necessary to speak to
these lies”? Sure, never let the devil get the last word! Here's what God
says about it.
Rev 12:10-11
And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength,
and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser
of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and
night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word
of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
The blood, of Jesus, purchased our pardon. His blood sealed the new covenant.
Whosoever will, can partake of it freely. Not only do we overcome by the
blood; our testimony is, very much, a part of our victory. If we believe
it, say so, walk in it, and live by it. In Him we live and move and have
our very being. (Acts 17:28)
