The Word of God Is Coming Through

Hebrews 4:12 for the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

God’s Word is coming through and whether it comes through with you or without you depends upon the way you accept it. The Word of God does two things, it either conveys life to those hearing it or it conveys death. We must make a choice as to whether we want the Word to bring us life or death. It is sharper than any two-edged sword meaning that it penetrates deeply into the heart piercing splitting wide open the soul and spirit, joints and marrow, or in other words the innermost chambers of our mind because it is a discerner of not only our very thoughts but also of our very intentions. It knows what we truly think deep down even though we think it’s hidden from others and sometimes even from self and God but it truly is not. There is nothing we can hide from God.

The word ‘quick’, in the Greek means, “living” or having living power in all things. The Greek meaning of the word ‘powerful’ is “energetic” meaning it's not only living but it is also vigorously effectual in all things. Sharper means it cuts more than anything else it divides and takes out or removes and brings to the surface the truth. It cuts going in and coming out from side to side because it is sharp on all edges meaning it’s power is doubled judging all that is in your heart, soul, and spirit passing through and searching and convicting not only Believers but also unbelievers. The Greek for ‘piercing’ is “COMING THROUGH.” That means the Word of God, the Spirit of God, and the will of God is coming through no matter what we do. And it is coming through even if it causes a dividing asunder of soul and spirit. It's coming through separating the lowest part of man's soul from the highest part of man's soul. This separation or piercing, cutting deeply will either bring man to a receptive attitude towards God’s will or a hostile attitude towards God’s will. Christ knows all there is to know about us. The power of Christ’s discernment pierces deeply into our most intimate and hidden feelings and thoughts causing a separation of carnal from spiritual.  A discerner of thoughts in the Greek means “capable of judging the purposes.” Often our intents or rather our ideas and understandings do not line up with the will of God and so God’s Word must lay open or pierce our heart pointing out all unbelief, hypocrisy, and inflexibility showing US our true self. So our faith must be persistent, dynamic, and energetic or we will truly fail to see the will of God for us!

And this raises another question what is God’s will for us? According to Ephesians 1:15-23 God’s will for us is that we grow in wisdom and revelation knowledge of HIM. This means we grow in our knowledge of who we are in Christ Jesus! We change our old way of thinking, talking, acting, walking and as it says in Romans 12:1-2 that we should not conform to the world but instead be transformed by the renewing of our mind proving that which is “the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God.“ So we should give ourselves to Him completely transforming our way of thinking and speaking. God’s will should act as a cleanser purifying our thoughts and actions of the old way and renewing them through Christ Jesus. So often we struggle and fight with trivial things such as should I buy this car, should I sell my house, should I tithe to an Internet Church, should I give to a local mission ministry which of these things is the will of God? All of these things can be the will of God but the true will of God goes far beyond these things. It is a heart and soul focused purely on Him. It is a heart and soul that is possessed by Jesus Christ and His Gospel. It is a heart and soul that rejoices evermore, prays without ceasing, and gives thanks in all things and this is the Will of God and His will is coming through; will you be ready!
