On The Solid Rock I Stand
Mat 7:24-25 Therefore whosoever
heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a
wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended,
and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and
it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
Mat 7:26-27 And every one that
heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened
unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain
descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that
house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
What are we saying when we say “On the solid rock I stand”? Are we
standing on Jesus? Of course not! I don't want anyone standing on me
and I don't believe we should stand on Jesus either! What are these
verses saying?
Notice the key to this promise of standing, also for every promise in
the Bible, is finding out what it says and becoming a doer of truth.
The promise of standing in storms, we all face, are not to the one who
quotes verses, prays, goes to church, gives in offerings, has their
name on a church role, speaks in unknown tongues or even preaches and
teaches. While all these things are good in their proper place, unless
we become a doer of what Jesus said, we have no promise of standing the
test. All the promises of God are conditional on what we do in response
to them. We can be blessed or cursed, our choice. The above verses say
we stand or fall by our choices. Here is what God says about it.
Deu 11:26-28 Behold, I set
before you this day a blessing and a curse; A blessing, if ye obey the
commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day: And a
curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but
turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after
other gods, which ye have not known.
Notice Matthew 7:26-27. If we don't become doers of what Jesus said we
will not stand. Beloved, being a Christian is much more than joining a
church and attending regularly. If we are not ready and willing to bury
what we were to become all He is, we are not ready for Christ. We
cannot add Christ to our life; He must become our life. When we call
Him Lord and don't become a doer of His commandments, we are kidding
ourselves. Here is what Jesus said about this. Luke 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
On the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand. For that
to be a reality in our life it requires obedience to all Jesus said.
Playing church will not get it done, obedience will!
2 Cor 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Do we desire that to be real in our life? Obedience is the key. All He
said, we can become doers of in His strength and ability. As Paul said
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me”.
